We're here for you no matter where you live across the globe! We have slowly, carefully reinstated in-person sessions with older adults who need them, both in our office and when absolutely necessary, in clients' homes. While we encourage video calls when possible, these are the precautions we will continue to follow with in-person sessions:
- Signed, Informed Consent forms confirming understanding of the risk of Covid-19.
- Masks must be worn.
- - Hand sanitizer and continued safety measures will be available throughout our workspace.
VIRTUAL COACHING: How does it work?
It's actually pretty fun. You contact us to schedule a session. We arrange a coach to "meet with you" via phone call, or a video calling software -- and WE WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO USE IT! You can remain in the comfort of your home or any other location that has phone or internet service. You will speak live with a 5-star rated, experienced, Teeniors® coach, and you can ask for helping with anything you'd like to learn to do with the electronics, like a cell phone, tablet, computer, smartTV, or anything on the internet - such as how to create an account, how to order something online, how to apply for jobs or create a resume, how to text, email, send pictures or use social media. The possibilities are truly endless. Tell us what you want to learn to do! (For those who absolutely need in person sessions, they are currently available with Covid restrictions in Albuquerque and surrounding areas.)
IN-PERSON COACHING: How does it work?
Following the current Covid-19 guidelines, you will contact us to schedule a session, sign an informed consent form, and meet us in person at our downtown ABQ office; or in your home if needed, to learn anything you'd like! Our office space provides a safe, friendly environment where your temperature can be checked by a facial scanner, sanitizer is ready and available, and great lighting and a fun work space will be part of your visit with with a Teeniors coach who can help with anything you'd like to learn about your electronic device.
How do I book an appointment or group event?
Call (505) 600-1297 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tell us what you'd like to learn, when you want the session to take place, and a member of our team will get you set up! If you leave a voicemail, you'll hear back from us no later than the next business day. Our offices are closed on Sundays, but coaching is available 7 days a week!
I have a Kindle / Apple TV / Smart TV / Amazon Echo / PC. Can Teeniors help me out with any of this stuff?
YES! Those items plus a whole lot more! Our Teeniors have experience in a variety of technologies, and we have "Teenior Pro" coaches who can help with home devices and software that require a more advanced skillset. Call or email to learn more.
My internet or printer isn't working / my phone doesn't text or sometimes drops calls. Can you help me?
The answer is...probably. Great question, as we are here to help with basic technology (i.e. operating your device, learning new apps and software, setting up your printer/computer/cell phone/smart TV, etc.) But sometimes clients have a problem that has to do with their cell phone company, internet provider, or another issue that requires an outside technician. Most of the time, your coach will be able to assess the problem and even solve the problem in person. However, during Covid, we are now working with you over the phone and online, so we stand by the same hopes, but you will need to pay coaching fee either way to assess the situation. We will always let you know whether your problem is something we can help with, or whether you’ll need to reach out to your an outside technician or another professional. If you need help with the latter, we can also arrange time to have a coach help you make that call.
Do you offer training sessions in areas outside of NM?
YES! "Virtual Coaching' (tutoring via phone and video calls) allows us to help anyone, anywhere. However during Covid-19 and this isolation period, we have yet to return to in-person coaching. We continue to grow and are constantly evaluating ways to reach more communities. I identify as low or fixed income. Why do you charge for Teeniors?
Great question, as we know that times are hard for many people. Just like any other business or organization - we have to pay the bills! Part of our mission of is to provide paid, meaningful jobs to teens and young adults. And like any other small business or nonprofit, we need to cover costs of running the organization (office rent, payroll, legal fees, printed materials, website and development, software, advertising - just to name a few). Our coaches are paid above minimum wage, and we offer a phenomenal service for your money. We also take our work very seriously. Our coaches apply to become teeniors. They are recommended by teachers and parents; interviewed, screened and oriented to work with you as a personal tutor. Only the most impressive young adults make up our elite team . Volunteers simply would not be sustainable in the long run, and we strive to be self-sustaining. We are confident that you'll find your coaching session to be worth every penny. AND for those who cannot afford to pay,, we have earned grant funding that allows us to reach more seniors who identify as low-income, and thus do not have to pay or can pay a deeply reduced rate. How much does it cost to hire a teenior or book a group event?
As of July 2018, our private, one-on-one coaching sessions start at $49.95 per hour (with slight variations depending on location). Since the outbreak of Covid-19, we have created "virtual coaching" at a limited time rate of $39.95 per hour. Our average group events range between $300-500 depending on the number of attendees being coached and thus, the number of teeniors / staff needed, as we prioritize personalized coaching. IN PERSON (Postponed): Where will we meet for our private coaching session?
Anywhere you choose! We can meet at your home, our downtown office, a local senior center, coffee shop or library. Teeniors™ strives to arrange sessions that are comfortable and convenient for your needs.
IN PERSON (Postponed): How does a "private coaching session" work?
- First, we'll ask what kind of device you have (i.e. iPhone, Kindle, Windows laptop...) and what you'd like to learn to do. Then we'll set up the when and where.
- Second, we'll call or email you with a confirmation of your coach's name and all the details for your session.
- Your Teeniors coach will meet you wearing a bright yellow "Teeniors" shirt so that you can easily identify him or her. You're also welcome to ask for photo ID.
- Our teeniors are fantastic personal tutors, so we continuously get 5-star reviews. They are patient, kind and love their work. Most importantly though, they understand what it's like learning a new technology. You can always ask them slow down, speak up, repeat things, and show you again, step-by-step how something is done. This is your coaching session.
- Private sessions in our office are supervised by an adult staff member; home coaching takes place with a 'teenior' who is 18 years of age or older.
Our primary goal is to empower older adults to connect with loved ones and the world through technology, while also providing paid, meaningful jobs to youth. We charge far less than our competitors, and while we strive to be self-sustaining, we are also aware that not everyone can afford to pay. This is why we provide pro-bono coaching for low-income clients in our effort to help seniors from all walks of life.
